PEDORTHIC CODING GUIDE
Active Life provides coding recommendations as a courtesy, and assumes no responsibility or liability for the provider's coding decisions. The responsibility for accurate coding lies solely with the provider authorizing treatment or actively treating the patient. Active Life's coding recommendations are subject to change at any time, and are generated using information provided by manufacturers and other public or private agencies, which are then reviewed and compiled by Active Life.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Active Life is available to help with any confusion regarding the coding process. If you need additional help, please contact our main office in Glendale, CA at (818) 495-4610 and mention you need assistance with coding. You may use the comment form found on our contact page to request this type of information.
- Certain products can have multiple codes associated with them, including one "base code" and many possible "add-on codes". We have noted these products by added (+More) following the code recommendation. For referral or authorization purposes, simply list the provided "base code" and following evaluation of the client or patient, Active Life will recommend to the referral or authorization source a complete list of codes that properly represent the final design of the product.
- The same code is assigned to similar products in several cases. In these cases, it's important the referral or authorization source provide additional details for the specific product desired. For example, L1832 can apply to both a post-op and non post-op style of knee brace.
- Certain products will have different code designations depending on how the product was provided to the patient or client. If the product was delivered by a person with expertise and the product and customization of the product was required, a different code would apply compared to the same product which might have been pulled "Off the Shelf" and applied on a patient.
