Active Life is passionate about service towards the amputee community and their loved ones, and is equipped to meet the needs of any current or prospective client.
Below Knee ProstheticsBelow knee (trans-tibial) prosthetic devices are the most common type of prosthetic system provided by Active Life due to a higher percentage of amputees with this amputation level compared to other levels. Your Active Life prosthetist will perform a complete evaluation of the residual limb, as well as an evaluation of the client's walking pattern, general strength and range of motion, as well as other evaluation procedures necessary to create the best possible prosthetic device. Generally, all lower extremity prosthetic systems are classified in on of 4 categories based on the client's ability to perform certain activities, such as walking at different speeds, running or an ability to handle certain environmental barriers such as curbs. The client's insurance plan may dictate what type of prosthetic system must be used based on the client's functional category, but rest assured that Active Life will provide the optimal prosthesis while considering any functional, insurance or financial limitations.

Above Knee ProstheticsAbove knee (trans-femoral) prosthetic devices include both a prosthetic knee and prosthetic foot system, and are the second-most common type of prosthetic system provided by Active Life. Above knee amputees require greater energy expenditure to use their prosthetic devices due to the higher amputation level compared to a below knee amputee, and Active Life takes great care in making sure your final prosthetic design is as lightweight as possible and performs seamlessly for day to day use. Your Active Life prosthetist will perform a complete evaluation of the residual limb, as well as an evaluation of the client's walking pattern, general strength and range of motion, as well as other evaluation procedures necessary to create the best possible prosthetic device. Many above knee amputees struggle with tightness of the muscles in the hip or remaining limb, and your Active Life prosthetist will accommodate for these as needed with the prosthetic design. The client's insurance plan may dictate what type of prosthetic system must be used based on the client's functional category, but rest assured that Active Life will provide the optimal prosthesis while considering any functional, insurance or financial limitations.

Upper Extremity ProstheticsUpper extremity prosthetics (trans-radial or trans-humeral) are less common types of prosthetic devices except in areas where there is a high rate of occupational hazards that may result in injury, though there are many congenital conditions that can also result in the need for an upper extremity prosthesis. Active Life's prosthetists are well equipped to handle both functional and cosmetic upper extremity prosthetic requests.

Pediatric ProstheticsActive Life is passionate about helping the pediatric amputee or congenital deformity population that require pediatric prosthetic devices. We recognize that because of the age of the client there are many non-traditional aspects to providing service and care that must be considered, such as the psycho-social elements of the client and the family, as well as the need to accommodate for growth of the child and the absolute necessity of helping our pediatric clients feel like they join their friends in normal activities and not feel awkward about their condition. Your Active Life prosthetist has special training in pediatric prosthetic services and care, and is well equipped to take excellent care of this very special group of individuals.

What Our Clients Are Saying About Active Life"The staff first of all is compassionate to my needs and with their one-on-one service helped boost my self-esteem and motivated me tremendously to get back on my feet again. Most definitely I will highly recommend Active Life to others and let them know how their product has impacted my life." "We are so happy with Active Life Orthotics and Dr. Spencer Doty. Having a young daughter that requires a DAFO is surprisingly stressful, in regards to insurance pre-certification, and the actual casting of the brace. We went to two other facilities and they were very unhelpful, and not very friendly, but at Active Life the staff was very kind and the Doctor was gentle and fun for our 3 year old. Now with her brace our daughter is able to run without falling, and is very happy to be able to keep up with her friends." |
